Non-Free

There are seemingly zero truly libre, “open source” AI models.

BirdNET

The BirdNET models are under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International Public License.

The following files are under the non-libre NC license:

• BirdNET_GLOBAL_6K_V2.4_Labels.txt

• BirdNET_GLOBAL_6K_V2.4_MData_Model_V2_FP16.tflite

• BirdNET_GLOBAL_6K_V2.4_Model_FP32.tflite

sndid uses the BirdNET models.

The goal is to replace the non-libre models.

The BirdNET source code is also under a non-free NC (non-commerical) license (which isn’t even a software license…).

sndid doesn’t use any non-free software from BirdNET as it uses the independently developed birdnetlib which is under the free software / open source software Apache 2.0 license.
